1. Much of today’s episode came from a book I picked up in an Amnesty International bookstore, the Rough Guide series on World Music. It’s about 700 pages of pure ethnomusicological heaven, and a wonderful chapter on Zouk music. For further reading I suggest this NYT article on Zouk from their archive and this piece from RBMA on Gwo Ka and protest music.
