This was a one off show called Alegría for Threads Radio; I did a whirlwind tour of Colombian music from the history of cumbia and porro all the way up to champeta. It features snippets of interviews with Lucas Silva on Afro-Colombian heritage and Carlos Icaza about re-issuing one of Colombia’s forgotten treasures. There’s also a nice interview with Lecturer Rafael Quishpe about his incredible project ‘Between Rifles and Accordions’ analyzing and compiling 30 years of music produced by the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). Lots of nice tunes too – enjoy!
