Continuing the monthly residence on Balamii radio with another episode of Alegría: again sans microphone but packed with MPB, salsa, cumbia and no less than four numbers from the soundtrack to the wonderful ‘Aquarius’. Little late to this party, I only came across Kleber Mendonca Filho’s films after blood-thirsty ‘Bacarau’, but each seems to touch on race, class, gender and gentrification in a deeply human (and thrilling) manner. And, across the board, excellent music. See you in April!
